Christian Today: Saudi Arabia's Crown Princes Hosts Christian Evangelical Leaders

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a rare meeting with American evangelical Christians, as the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom seeks to open up more to the world and repair an image of religious intolerance.

The delegation was led by communications strategist Joel Rosenberg and included former U.S. congresswoman Michele Bachmann, according to an emailed statement by the group, as well as heads of American evangelical organizations, some with ties to Israel.

"It was a historic moment for the Saudi Crown Prince to openly welcome Evangelical Christian leaders to the Palace. We were encouraged by the candor of the two-hour conversation with him today," the statement said.

The delegation also met Saudi officials including Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, Saudi Ambassador to Washington Prince Khalid bin Salman and secretary-general of the Muslim World League Mohammed al-Issa.

A visit by such prominent non-Muslim leaders, who estimate they represent about 60 million people, is a rare act of religious openness for Saudi Arabia, which hosts the holiest sites in Islam and bans the practice of other religions.

Some of the figures' support for Israel, which the kingdom does not recognize, is also striking.

For instance, Mike Evans, founder of the Jerusalem Prayer Team, describes himself on his website as "a devout American-Christian Zionist leader."

Saudi Arabia has maintained for years that normalizing relations with Israel hinges on its withdrawal from Arab lands captured in the 1967 Middle East war — territory Palestinians seek for a future state.

But increased tension between Tehran and Riyadh has fueled speculation that shared interests may push Saudi Arabia and Israel to work together against what they regard as a common Iranian threat.

Prince Mohammed, who in recent years has loosened strict social rules and arrested Saudi clerics deemed extremists, said in April that Israelis are entitled to live peacefully on their own land.

A month earlier, Saudi Arabia opened its air space for the first time to a commercial flight to Israel.

Several members of the delegation, which met with Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed in the United Arab Emirates earlier in the week, have also advised U.S. President Donald Trump on faith issues.

Pastor Daniel Olukoya Biography

Dr D.K. Olukoya is the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries. He holds a first-class Honours degree in Microbiology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Reading, United Kingdom. As a researcher, he has over seventy scientific publications to his credit.

His life and ministry are devoted to the revival of apostolic signs, Holy Ghost fireworks and the unlimited demonstration of the power of God to deliver to the uttermost.

He teaches that holiness within and without is the greatest spiritual insecticide and a condition for Heaven. He trains your hands to wage war and your fingers to fight against the forces of darkness. He has also taught Genetics and was an external examiner in a number of universities. Moreover, he has attended and presented papers at scientific conferences in almost all continents of the world. To date, DKO continues to contribute to the field of genetics and biotechnology via the Daniel & Fola Biotechnology Foundation, a registered NGO established to empower Nigerian citizens with modern and contemporary laboratory skills in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

He passionately desires to see God’s people set free from all bondages and fulfilling their God-given destiny with the teachings of the Bible applied in all areas of human lives.

As a Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Role model and Preacher of the Word, Dr D.K Olukoya continues to spread the message of God’s power to restore, break yokes and for salvation to all nations, thereby bringing about a harvest of deliverance and spiritual breakthroughs by the power of the Holy Ghost.

As a researcher, with a profound prophetic insight into the realm of the spiritual, he has produced a wealth of publications including the bestselling “Prayer Rain”.

Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya is married to Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Olukoya – fondly called ‘Mummy GO’. Pastor (Mrs) Folashade Olukoya attended the Darnley Career Academy, London, UK, a college of Arts, Fashion and Textile design, from where she obtained a diploma in Fine Arts and Interior Decoration and a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Pastor (Mrs) Olukoya is a talented artist, and the artistic illustrator of almost all books authored by her husband. As a small child, she showed so much interest in creativity, especially in the natural habitat, which kept her wondering about God and his works. Pastor (Mrs) Folashade Olukoya cites her sense of imaginative composition as another special gift from God which has helped her tremendously in her art career.

Mrs. Olukoya is the International Coordinator, MFM Women’s Foundation. The foundation has been established to empower women in the church through adult literacy education and skill acquisition training programs.

Dr. D K Olukoya and Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Olukoya are happily married and blessed with a son, Elijah Toluwani.

Church of the Day: Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM)

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) is a Pentecostal denomination founded in Yaba, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria in 1989, now with churches in several countries. It was founded by Daniel Kolawole Olukoya ("DKO"). Many publications on deliverance have been credited to Olukoya, such as the popular prayer book known as The Prayer Bible.

Mountain Of Fire And Miracles Ministries was founded by Daniel Kolawole Olukoya at a prayer meeting in 1989 in his living room.

The prayer group purchased a large site at an abandoned slum near the University of Lagos, and converted it into the International Headquarters of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, of which Olukoya is the General Overseer. The first service there was on 24 April 1994.

At the new location, worshippers and those seeking help kept coming, leading to a very large congregation. This situation posed a challenge of crowd, growth and expansion management to the leadership of the church. Thus, MFM created a network of branches in every state capital, local government headquarters, senatorial district and locality.

According to the group's literature, it is committed to "the Revival of Apostolic Signs, Holy Ghost fireworks and the unlimited demonstration of the power of God to deliver to the uttermost". As the name would imply, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries places a great emphasis on wonders, miracles and other Apostolic acts.

MFM describes itself as "a do-it-yourself gospel ministry, where your hands are trained to wage war and your fingers to do battle." This militant tone against spiritual wickedness is reflected throughout the teachings of MFM, where it calls upon members to become spiritually aggressive Christians, and some of the groups founded by MFM call themselves names such as the Prayer Warriors, the Territorial Intercessors and the God's Violent Army. This does not mean physical violence, because the battles are in the spiritual realms.

MFM members' practice of praying for the death of enemies has been denounced by observers such as radio host Daddy Freeze.

MFM is headed by a General Overseer, who is also the main theologian of the church. He is assisted by Assistant General Overseers, helming specific departments.

About Asa Alonso Allen

A. Alonso Allen was born on March 27, 1911, Allen was a minister with a Pentecostal evangelistic healing and deliverance ministry. He was, for a time, associated with the "Voice of Healing" movement founded by Gordon Lindsay. He died on June 11, 1970, at the age of 59 in San Francisco, California. Allen was buried at his ministry headquarters in Miracle Valley, Arizona.

Asa A. Allen's early life was lived in an often unpleasant environment. Having been born to a white and an Indian parent, his family was very poor, and his father was an alcoholic. At the age of 23, Allen became a Christian at the Onward Methodist Church in Miller, Missouri. Later, he learned of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit from a Pentecostal preacher who was conducting meetings in his home. He soon felt the call to preach and affiliated himself with the Assemblies of God, subsequently obtaining ordination from them in 1936. He then began to pastor a small church in Colorado. By 1947, Allen was pastoring a large Assemblies of God church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

After attending an Oral Roberts tent meeting in Dallas, Texas, in 1949, Allen testified that as he left that meeting he hoped to form a divine healing ministry. He asked his church board to allow him to start a radio program. They refused. Allen soon resigned from his church and began holding healing revival meetings.

Allen became one of the first to develop a national television ministry which frequently included excerpts from his "healing line" ministry. By the late 1960s, however, music formed an increasingly dominant part of his programs, with that music generally being performed by African-American singer and choir leader Gene Martin.

In 1955, Allen purchased a large tent for $8,500. Allen was soon one of the major healing evangelists on the Healing Revival circuit. Allen's revival meetings were similar to the other leading evangelists of the time (such as Jack Coe, Oral Roberts, and William Branham) in that meetings were typically characterized by preaching, testifying, music, and praying for the sick. As was the case with other ministers of the time, Allen's healing ministry was facilitated by the use of "prayer cards" obtained in advance by those requesting prayer for healing.

Pastor Ray Comfort Biography

Ray Comfort is a New Zealand-born Christian minister and evangelist who lives in the United States. Comfort started Living Waters Publications, as well as the ministry The Way of the Master, in Bellflower, California, and has written several books.

According to Comfort's autobiography, his parents put "Methodist" on his birth certificate but he was given no religious instruction as a child. Comfort identifies himself as both Christian and Jewish.

In 1989, Comfort accepted an invitation to join the pastoral staff at the non-denominational Calvary Chapel in Southern California.

In the mid-1990s Comfort persuaded Kirk Cameron, star of the cancelled hit sitcom Growing Pains, to become an evangelist. In 2002, the pair formed an organization called The Way of the Master, with the intention of teaching the church to more effectively preach the message of evangelical Christianity.

Comfort says that evangelism is the main reason the Christian Church exists and that many of the evangelistic methods used over the last century have produced false conversions to Christianity. Comfort often uses the Ten Commandments to speak about sin before presenting the gospel of Jesus. In the mid-1980s he formulated two sermons entitled "Hell's Best Kept Secret" and "True and False Conversions."

Comfort speaks professionally at churches and evangelism seminars, and preaches in Huntington Beach, California. As well as co-hosting the former The Way of the Master Radio with Kirk Cameron, he is co-host of The Way of the Master Television Show.

Ray Comfort has authored more than 80 books and tracts. His 2009 book You Can Lead an Atheist to Evidence, But You Can't Make Him Think, ranked #1 in Amazon.com's atheism and apologetics categories when it debuted in February 2009.

Church of the Day: The Household Of God International Ministries

Household Of God International Ministries had its inaugural Sunday morning service on the 1st of February, 1987 in his living room, then in the Ikeja area of Lagos state. As membership of the young but peculiar church grew into the hundreds and thousands, the surrounding grounds of his house became a sitting area for the overspill from the living room.

The ministry of the church and the person of Reverend Chris Okotie as a minister of the gospel became nationally recognized when the Lord Jesus Christ inspired the inauguration of the GRACE PROGRAMME and the television ministry, APOKALUPSIS. The charity-driven GRACE programme was instituted in 1990 and has become a major benevolence channel of the ministry on an annual basis.

The objective of the programme as directed by the Lord Jesus is to extend the arm of care and sharing to the less privileged in the society through recognized non-governmental organizations who deal directly with such people. In 1996 the KARIS AWARD, yet another inspiration by the Lord Jesus, which is aimed at appreciating Nigerians who have positively impacted the nation but have not been recognized by the government, was instituted and subsumed into the GRACE programme.

Ayo Oritsejafor Biography

Ayo Oritsejafor was born on November 10 into the family of Mr. Joseph Monday Oritsejafor and Mrs. Roli Durojaiye Oritsejafor in Lagos, Nigeria. His mother is a staunch member of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

In 1972, Oritsejafor became “born again” in an evangelical crusade held in Sapele, Nigeria. Oritsejafor enrolled at the All Nations For Christ Bible Institute, Benin City, Nigeria. Oritsejafor further enrolled with the Nigerian Baptist Seminary, Ogbomosho in Oyo State, Nigeria and later proceeded in 1979 to the United States for further studies at Morris Cerullo’s School of Ministry (El Cortez), San Diego, California.

According to him, he had a vision of himself wearing a suit and was preaching to thousands of people and he heard a voice that said to him, “this is what you are going to be doing the rest of your life” and the voice said, “Take my word to the world”. This is the inaugural vision that led to the founding of the Word of Life Bible Church (WLBC) in November 1987. He hosts Hour of Deliverance, a television program which had its debut in 1980.

Oritsejafor says he owes all his life’s accomplishments to God and his success in the ministry he attributes to the influence of God-given mentors like Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Dr. Morris Cerullo, Evangelist Robert W. Schamback, and Evangelist Tommy L. Osborn amongst others.

Oritsejafor is a proponent of leadership by example. This is evident in the role he played in bringing the crisis in Niger Delta area of Nigeria to an end.

In 2010, Oritsejafor was declared the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)

Oritsejafor set up African Broadcasting Network, an international satellite Christian television station intended to serve as a voice for the gospel of Christ from Africa to the world. ABN is a satellite channel broadcasting from London, with a coverage that spans across the whole of Africa, parts of Asia and parts of Europe. ABN is currently viewed in 75 countries worldwide and online via WebTV.

David Yonggi Cho Biography

David Yonggi Cho was born on February 14, 1936, in South Kyŏngsang province, Korea, Korean religious leader and Christian evangelist who founded the Yoido Full Gospel Church (YFGC) in Seoul. He presided over the megachurch until 2008.

Cho was raised Buddhist. When he was 17, he became gravely ill from tuberculosis. He subsequently recovered, and, attributing his healing to the God of Christianity, he became a Christian. In 1958 he graduated from Seoul’s Full Gospel Theological Seminary (now Hansei University), which was operated by the Pentecostal Assemblies of God denomination, and opened a tent church on a hillside outside the city. At that time many Koreans were homeless and jobless as a consequence of the Korean War. Cho’s hopeful message and reports that he had performed faith healings attracted many of the unfortunate to his church.

As the congregation grew, Cho moved his church first to downtown Seoul and then in 1973 to a new sanctuary on the city’s Yoido Island. Cho, fluent in English and Japanese, preached the Gospel in sermons that were broadcast on television and radio in South Korea, the United States, Japan, and elsewhere.

By 1981 Yoido Full Gospel Church included about 200,000 people, and by the first decade of the 21st century, it claimed some 1,000,000 worshippers and had sent more than 700 missionaries to hundreds of churches throughout the world.

Cho founded a newspaper, the Kook-min Daily, in 1988. The church operated its own television station (Full Gospel Television), a publishing house, and a Website. It also undertook many social programs, including a welfare centre in Seoul that provided care for senior citizens who had no supporting families and vocational training to poverty-stricken young adults, a recycling drive to raise money for children in need of open-heart surgery, and “Bread of Love,” a program providing food to the poor and hungry.

Today Pastor Cho, pastors the largest church in the world, with a total of 800,000 members, assisted by 171 associate pastors and 356 lay pastors.

The church has moved from level of glory to another, all to the glory of God.
